Frederic Wurtz (aka AEM) – Vision Reality (1990)

Again, Frederic Wurtz has released yet another breathtaking album. Wonder why he kept it in his vault for this long? It should have gotten a proper release way back in 1990. Anyway,  on this album Wurtz showcases his ability on the keyboards and sequencers when he is at the top of his game. There are many similarities to the albums ‘Temporal Side’ and ‘Vision Set’ on this release. The structure is very much the same, and one can’t escape the typical Wurtz “trademark” sound. However, this is a good thing, at least to me it is. There are lots of mindbreaking sequencing (as usual), but there is also alot of very innovatite passageways throughout the album that captures the listener with it’s intense and ever changing sound structure. Everything builds in the most infectious way you are unlikely to hear anywhere else. Both parts (called ‘Vision Reality’ Part 1 and 2) consists of pulsating sequencing and an incredibly harmonic atmosphere that progress through in various EM styles along with a constant long-form synth-line that breaks through every now and then, and creates a synth inferno that is really hard to beat!. At times this album reminds me of ‘Rene Splinter’s’ music, as  both Rene and Frederic are using the same kind of sequencing sound, directly taken from the 80’s.

I’m 101% sure that most EM fanatics will love what this quality EM album has to offer, especially the die-hard 80’s fan, like myself. It’s a great addition to your music collection. Nuff said!
